Maritime Placements Limited., which originally had its beginnings under the name of Maritime International Limited., was the first local placement agency in Sri Lanka (1978), the pioneer company within the Group. In its 28-year history, MPL have placed perhaps the largest compliment of staffs ranging from Office Aids, Clerks, Accounting Staff, Secretarial Staff, Sales & Marketing Personnel, Technical & Engineering Professionals; from middle level to lower levels, in over 3,000 organizations in Sri Lanka. At MPL, we provide two specific types of service, viz HR Placements and HR Outsourcing.

HR Placements - is where we will recruit suitable candidates according to clients’ requirements for a one-time fee. Moreover, we undertake to arrange for replacements, if the candidates vacate their post at the work place within a period of three months. HR Outsourcing - is where we handle all of your HRM functions completely, and undertake to outsource, interview, recruit, and manage payments of emoluments to staffs, in addition to other functions for your employees on your behalf.

Due to the growing need for outsourcing, Maritime Placements Ltd. has diversified into outsourcing of personnel and services. Over the last few years, MPL has grown rapidly meeting the outsource needs of several Multinational and large National companies, who prefer to use an HR strategic partner to meet their HR needs, whilst maintaining low headcounts and less administrative responsibilities. The answer to most corporate needs to grow and develop is for HR strategic partnerships that are not only reliable, but provide a high quality of service.

The benefits of Outsourcing staff for an organisation are multitudinous: MPL takes over the HR functions of the recruitment process, (thus reducing headcount), including administration of payroll & statutory payments, enabling clients to avoid legal implications concerning employment & disciplinary issues. Similarly, there are no redundant or ineffective staffs or even interruptions resulting from non-attendance of staff as replacements are substituted whenever required.

Outsourced Division

Identifying the need to provide value added services to our clients, MPL diversified its services to cover the following:

  1. Providing human resources to clients on the payroll of MPL. MPL will be the legal employer. MPL undertakes to absorb existing employees of a client into their payroll according to clients requirements. We handle all of your HR functions completely and undertake to outsource, interview, recruit, and manage payments of emoluments to staff, in addition to other functions for your employees on your behalf.

    The benefits of outsourcing staff for an organization are multitudinous. MPL takes over the HR functions of the recruitment process thus reducing the headcount, including administration of payroll and statutory payments, offer letters, timely renewal of contracts, etc enabling the clients to avoid legal implications concerning employment and disciplinary issues. Similarly, there are no redundant or ineffective staff.

    Methodology - confirmation of requirements from outsourcing and signing of an official agreement between the client and MPL, which would include job specifications, numbers required, salary information and benefit issues. Thereafter, MPL provides two service alternatives:

    Option i MPL would present candidates in line with the client's requirements for selection.
    Option ii Employees that are already identified by the client could be outsourced through MPL.

    Prospective client provides monthly attendance of employees enabling MPL to prepare salaries, and statutory payments. for EPF & ETF, in addition to any other allowances indicated and thereafter raise an invoice. On receipt of remittance from the client, MPL undertakes to ensure that salaries are disbursed to employees within two direct into employees Bank Accounts. Fees are based on a 20% mark-up of the total invoice value plus 15% VAT.

  2. Administering payroll of staff
    Staff will remain on the legal employment of the client, only the calculation of payroll, allowances, etc. will be outsourced to MPL. Outsourcing this function maintains the confidentiality of payroll, reduces the need to have designated employees thus reducing headcount and most recommended for senior/mid management grades due to confidentiality.

  3. Advertising services
    Design and develop advertisements for clients, collate CVs, shortlist and evaluate applicants if called up to do so.
