MIL Holdings Limited, established in 1978 commenced operations with what is today the flagship company of the firm - Maritime International Ltd bearing License No. 11 and interestingly, one of the first licenses to operate in Sri Lanka. MIL Holdings is now reputed by Sri Lankan regulatory authorities for excellent ethics in business. We are in the people business. It is my pleasure to introduce in brief MIL Holdings Ltd, the umbrella organization for Executive Search Ltd (ESL), Appointments of International Management Specialists (AIMS), Hunt-a-Skill (HAS), Maritime International Ltd (MIL), Maritime Placements Ltd (MPL) and Maritime Property Development & Maintenance Ltd (MPM).

Executive Search Ltd (ESL): Placement of senior management level professionals. Emphasis on head hunting as best method of correct identification for all positions. High confidentiality maintained. Fully computerized personnel data bank to precisely match requirement of client. Handles senior management category. Candidates could be sought if necessary from any of the following countries at the request and approval of the client – Sri Lanka, India, Pakistan, Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Phillipines and countries in the Gulf. European nationals also sourced for at client request from countries such as South Africa, Australia and other parts of the world.

Appointments of International Management Specialists (AIMS) / Hunt-A-Skill (HAS): Handle head hunting at levels mentioned above and the processing is carried out by ESL which also carries a separate labour license. HAS focuses on mid-management senior executive and junior management positions for mostly local companies. As for ESL, in depth head hunting combined with existing database services used.

Maritime International Ltd (MIL): Handles the recruitment of lower levels of staff to resorts in the Maldives, technical staff to the Gulf and other countries including Mauritius and Seychelles. Formalities involve dispatching client requirements by email to a minimum of 4 CV’s per position upon receipt of profile specifications. In-depth head hunting, use of database.

Maritime Placements Ltd (MPL): Operating from the inception of the holding company 28 years ago, a long history of placing perhaps the largest complement of staff from middle and lower levels in over 4.500 organizations. A much sought after employment agency to meet personnel requirements either on permanent, contractual or temporary basis. A wide and varied clientele from small industrial units to large multinationals and banks. Strong customer focus. Fully computerized databank. A special service - staff outsourced for large and small companies on long or short term basis reducing huge overheads of employer whilst providing smooth uninterrupted service of competent staff. Service includes a package of complete provision, direction and supervision of staff and overseeing job duties, or provision of staff only who would be directed by client/employer. MPL not only provides the staff but also prepares salaries and statutory payments thus reducing employers staff needs.

Maritime Property Management & Maintenance Ltd (MPM): Affiliated to the British Institute of Cleaning Science, a premier janitorial services company best known for providing the largest number of quality staff who functionally report to several well known reputed organizations covering commercial buildings, condominium apartments and residencies.

General methodology: Client provides job specifications. Senior consultants and Chairman/MD conduct interviews to ascertain the skills and knowledge required for the positions, trade tests where appropriate, referee checks, authenticating certificates, levels of competency ascertained. Suitable candidates placed before client for final selection. A minimum of three candidates CV’s per position. Facilities provided for client to personally interview either in air conditioned interview rooms at our premises or for select highly confidential interviews at our interview office located at a 5 star hotel. Capability to seek candidates of every conceivable level commencing from a waiter/houseman from Sri Lanka, India or the region to a General Manager of European origin if so required by the client. Our success rate always 85% and 90%.

Documentation: Detailed agreement signed by both parties. For overseas assignments, client would bestow Power of Attorney along with Job Order indicating staffing requirement, salaries and benefits. Candidates pay only Government taxes and medical charges.

Fee structure: The fee structure for very senior placements handled by ESL and AIMS which require focused head hunting from not only Sri Lanka but also from overseas locations is 12.5% of the annual salary of each selected candidate. 20% mobilization fee in advance to commence candidate search. Balance 80% on successful selection. For other companies, client pays one month’s gross salary per candidate if less than 10 candidates hired per assignment. Client pays half months salary if more than 10 candidates hired per assignment. MIL is the only company where clientele are charged a fee of 70% of the monthly salary for junior and supervisory staff. As a company policy, no fees charged from candidates.
